Today I am going to write about small home office organization. Covid19 has meant more people are having to work or study from home. What do you do if you don’t have a separate room for your home office? Working or studying from home is hard enough at the best of times. There are many distractions, and potentially constant interruptions from pets, family, and doorbells. As a Professional Organizer, I have helped many entrepreneurs create home offices, creating workspaces that are efficient, productive, and organized. The home office needs to look good, feel good, and be somewhere they want to sit down and work in.
The winter this year in Toronto simply won’t end. It was snowing the other day. Today I could hardly walk down the street the wind was so strong. And it really got me thinking. It’s hard to get motivated at the best of times but after 6 months of solid winter, it’s neigh on impossible. And yet the spring time is the perfect time to get your business back into shape.
Spring is a great time because it is a quiet time, the light is very bright but the weather is not too hot or too cold, and it’s the beginning of the year – so a fresh start if […]
I have over 12 years experience working in business environments, helping organizations with efficiency, company moral and productivity.
Specifically, busy professionals, parents and entrepreneurs call me when they want to be more efficient with their time, their processes and systems so that they can be more productive with less overwhelm. They want to be organized because they want their life back.
So why is it so difficult to organize our spaces?
The first reason is because we were never taught how to! Not in school, not in college, not at home. We may be taught how to tidy, how to clean but not how to organize.
The other reason is because […]
De-cluttering a space is difficult because it’s not just about purging what you don’t need it is how to make what you do need “look” clutter free. With all the best of intentions, even buying the latest “organizing” gadget… You even purge everything you no longer want. And there you stand looking at your desk and no matter where you position the new paper tray … well it just doesn’t fit nicely and your desk looks even worse. It doesn’t even make it look organized! So you rearrange your lamp, move the pen, paper clip, and business card […]
All during the month of March I am offering very special savings. If you book my services I will apply a 10% discount. It’s such a great time of year to commit to yourself and having a healthy, functional and relaxing home. Give me a call or drop me an email and let’s get started together.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
It doesn’t matter how organized you are, doing your taxes means two things;
1. Taking stock of the year gone by in a purely factual way. How did it all add up, how did all the work, the effort, the dreams and the disappointments – how did they all add up and what do they reveal on paper? When you look back and reflect over another year gone by it is with feelings. Tax time forces you, as a business owner, contractor and artist to reflect on the past year as the sum of its worth. There is a terrific opportunity here – it might not have […]
Really it’s all about perspective; how we see or experience something is not necessarily the only way or even, at times (like for me yesterday), vaguely realistic. It can be very frustrating not to mention alarmingly confusing when we find ourselves not being able to figure out how to organize our home when we seem to be able to have a perfectly organized office. Or when we were single somehow everything found a place but now that we are sharing our life with someone we find it almost impossible to even find a place for our tooth brush! […]
I passed my driving test! First attempt too. When I reversed the car into the parking space at the end of my test I was almost sick with dread and shame. I dreaded being told “You seem like a nice person but you and driving? Yea not a good mix. You failed – but that’s a good thing as the world is now a safer place. All the best with being a passenger!” And I was full of shame because here I am a mature somewhat intelligent woman in my 40’s only learning to drive now. Particularly in North America […]
A couple of my friends got the new Kindle as a gift this year. Wow, it really is a beautiful piece of technology. My friend John loved his because he is a father and now he can put all his child’s books on the Kindle. Now, when they are travelling, he doesn’t have to carry a huge array of books for reading. But the other thing I learnt is that it is not just books but magazines that you can download onto the Kindle! That really excited me.
So many of my clients get professional and life-style magazines. They love them. The main problem […]
Filing: How I love thee, let me count the ways…
Well, as a new blogger, we may not know each other very well – but I’ve got a confession to make. I love filing! I am here today to declare my mission to make filing functional, fast and fashionable. That’s right – Functional, Fast and Fashionable! I love designing filing systems, I love shopping for that perfect filing cabinet, I even love file folders. Yes, file folders (I will write a whole other section on file folders one day soon and you will see why they are the best thing ever!). I’m having a love affair with filing, and I’m […]
